Ice Man 'Ugh' Wood Carving

[ Ice Age Days 'UGH' Festival Mascot ]

The Ice Man "Ugh" is a friendly, carved 8-foot tall statue of the area mascot, and is located in the village of Rib Lake at 741 McComb Avenue.

Created in 1995, "Ugh" is in keeping with our "Ice Age" terrain. "Ugh" is donated to Ice Age Days, and to the friendly people of Rib Lake.

Lakeview Tourist Park

Lakeview Tourist Park provides complete camping facilities: 22 sites with hookups for campers, 5th wheel, pull-behinds, trailers. 10 to 20 Tent camping sites. No reservations. Fee requested: overnite $15 / for the week $75. Toilets and showers, play areas for families with children.

Ice Age National Scenic Trail

The Rib Lake segment of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail offers beautiful mixed hardwood forest trails for 4, 7, and 12 mile hikes during the spring, summer and fall, or cross country skiing in the winter.

Enjoy hiking or skiing past many small lakes and historic logging camps on this moderate ability trail. There are several trail access points within easy walking distance in the Village of Rib Lake.

Timm's Hill County Park

Timm's Hill is Wisconsin's highest point--1,951.5 feet above sea level. Climb the observation tower, hike the trails and enjoy the picnic area.

From Rib Lake turn east on Hwy 102 to County Trunk C, then turn left (North), then follow signage.

Rustic Road #1

Originally laid out in 1895, Rustic Road # 1 became the first official rustic road in Wisconsin.

Dedicated in 1975, this road is one of the first roads in the nation to be preserved for its rustic and scenic characteristics. The road winds for approximately five miles through outstanding forested glacial topography.

Camp 8 ATV Recreation Area

Camp 8 ATV recreation area is located just east of Rib Lake. This 12 mile ATV trail system is located within 17,600 acres of Taylor County managed woodlands.

Gerstberger Pines Nature Trail

Gerstberger Pines Nature Trail 20 acre park contains a stand of virgin timber and a developed nature trail. The mix of trees include white pine, red oak, basswood, yellow birch and hemlock.

Gerstberger Pines is a park maintained by the Taylor County Forestry and Recreation Department. Here you can learn about the plants, animals and history of this unique old growth forest.

The three-fourths mile interpretive trail introduces some of the treasures this special land has to offer. A free nature trail guide is available.

Historic St. Ann

Constructed in 1888, Historic St. Ann's is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The cemetery and church are located in the Town of Greenwood, a short drive south of Rib Lake.

Local volunteers work on projects to preserve the unique character of Historic St. Ann. In 2005, a special "Siding Fund" was set up to accept donations for the replacement of the 118 year old basswood siding on the church building.

Visit on weekends, holidays, or by appointment during the week, from early May to Labor Day. Check our Photo Album and more Historic St. Ann information page.

Taylor County Horse Camp

Opened in 2005 within Taylor County Forest lands, the Taylor County Horse Camp offers marked horse trails, two routes and off-road parking.
